Book Launch of “Migration”: A Documentary Account of War, Afghanistan’s Political Upheavals, and the Struggles of Afghan Migrants

The book Migration, written by Afghan journalist and author Abdul Mubeen Hakimi, was officially launched during a special event held in Tehran. The ceremony was attended by prominent cultural figures, journalists, university professors, writers, and civil and human rights activists.
The event was organized by the Support Organization for Civil Society and Afghan Journalists in Exile, in collaboration with the Par Literary Association.
Migration is divided into two main sections, offering a compelling and authentic narrative of the author’s personal migration experience to Germany.
The first part of the book details Hakimi’s journey from northern Afghanistan during the outbreak of war, highlighting the perilous migration routes and the harsh realities of seeking asylum. With a candid and engaging style, the author presents a vivid portrait of Afghan lives amidst conflict.
The second part presents a critical analysis of the political and social transformations in Afghanistan following the collapse of the republic in August 2021. This section addresses media suppression, the persecution of journalists, the international community’s reactions, human rights violations, and the country’s worsening economic conditions.
During the event, Omid Pouya, head of the Federation of Afghan Journalists in Exile, remarked:
“This book, beyond being a personal narrative, preserves the history of Afghan migration and contributes to a deeper understanding of the recent developments in Afghanistan.”
Migration has already garnered attention from critics and readers alike. It stands out as a significant documentary work on Afghan migration and serves as a valuable resource for those interested in Afghanistan’s socio-political landscape.
